The Leo Baeck Temple Men’s Club formed in February 2014 with a mission to gather other men of LBT to:

  • Foster a sense of brotherhood, camaraderie, and community among LBT men
  • Create and promote social opportunities for LBT men to interact and network
  • Develop meaningful opportunities for LBT men to grow as Jews.

Last year we held an amazing Men’s Retreat at Camp Josepho with ax throwing, beer catching, helicopter flying, and team building.  We also lost our shirts playing poker and lost our accents making Italian pizza. Be on the lookout for upcoming events!

“How good it is for brothers to dwell together in peace.”  The purpose of Achim, which means “brothers” in Hebrew, is to create a collegial community of men.  We wish to foster a climate of caring and understanding, thereby deepening our relationship to each other, to the Temple, and to the community.

The group meets at the homes of our members on a rotating basis and over breakfast and coffee, we explore various subjects of interest to men.  Areas we have explored this year include Torah study, responsa literature, Israeli and domestic politics, discussion of the qualities of leadership as defined in Jewish texts, and the dangers of fringe religious groups.

If you are interesting in joining Achim, please feel free to contact our chair – LBT member, Larry Gilbert.
