Each class is composed of approximately fifteen children. A staff/child ratio of better than one to eight ensures that each child receives maximum attention.
With the awareness of current research on early cognitive development, our teachers capitalize on the children’s interest in the world. They encourage fundamental skills that prepare children for further academics.
Language, music, imaginary play, fine and large motor experiences, pre-reading, and pre-math are all part of the curriculum.
Dress-up story time, snack preparation, and exploring the environment are also incorporated. In our shaded outdoor yard, children run, climb, ride tricycles, and build, as well as create their own games.
In using the visual and musical arts as part of our curriculum, we value process rather than product. Children choose from a multitude of art materials to express themselves freely. Music sessions are enhanced with a keyboard, rhythm instruments, and creative body movement activities.
We introduce our Jewish heritage with music, art, food, stories and dramatic play. On Mondays, our cantor arrives with her guitar to welcome the new week with a child-friendly Havdalah service. Every Friday, we visit the temple’s sanctuary with family and friends to celebrate Shabbat.
Both Jewish and American holidays are enthusiastically observed, with our Chanukah luncheon, Thanksgiving feast and Passover model seder being some of the major highlights.
