Our Approach

At the Leonard I. Beerman Early Childhood Center, our developmental approach to learning and the values upon which our school was founded ensure that we maintain a nurturing family atmosphere where each child and parent is treated with care.

The Center delights in the process of addressing each child’s cognitive and developmental needs. We believe that each student learns through interaction with the environment, and therefore we strive to structure an environment that sparks interest and learning.

In the midst of this creative setting, our teachers gently challenge each child toward suitable new experiences. A cornerstone of our approach is an “emergent” curriculum: one that is focused on the interests of the children. Other than the cycle of seasons and holidays, each year’s program is unique. We offer a balance between child-initiated and teacher-inspired activities, as well as a balance between large group, small group, and individual experiences.

The Early Childhood Center is the starting point for Jewish education and lifelong learning.
